BHRT (Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy) has been around in Europe and the US since the 1930’s. BHRT is a specialized type of medicine that helps balance our hormones to optimize our health through the aging process.

Hormones are our bodies chemical messengers affecting our mood, appetite, energy level, metabolism, weight, physique, sex drive, immune system and even behaviour.  As we age our hormonal system becomes less efficient and more imbalanced generally leading to changes such as female menopause and male andropause. BHRT is a process that restores the body’s hormone balance using your body’s natural hormones.

A tremendous body of scientific literature supports the use of bio-identical hormones as a safe and effective way to minimize the effects of aging. Below are the top ten benefits bio-identical hormone replacement therapy has for both men and women.

Benefits of BHRT in women:

  • Improves energy levels
  • Improves mood
  • Eliminates night sweats and hot flashes
  • Improves memory and concentration
  • Improves sex drive
  • Prevents vaginal thinning & dryness
  • Improves fat loss and muscle tone
  • Decreases skin winkles
  • Protects bones from osteoporosis
  • Reduces risks of heart disease

Benefits of BHRT in men:

  1. My grandmother is now on her menopausal stage and is suffering from several uncomfortable conditions. And right now we are still deciding if we let her undergo hrt free menopause treatments offered to us by our doctor. Thank you so much for the great insights you have shared on this page. It really helped us a lot. However I have read an article that women above 60 years of age must no longer go through this kind of treatment. So I guess I still need more researching for this. Anyway great post I hope more people will be able to read this.

Hello Anonymous, thanks for your comments. Firstly, your grandmother may be eligible for Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy however we would need to be clear why we would be treating her (i.e. What are her complaints) and what exactly are the benefits. Please feel free to contact us to speak with our Doctor in order for us to determine if we can help your grandmother.

  4. BHRT is not the same as HRT. BHRT is using a natural compound found in nature like soy while HRT is made from horse urine & a synthetic compilation causing cancer.
